***Deliveries***

Our delivery drivers & carriers take care with your deliveries however it is important that all delivery notes are marked “not examined”or, in case damage is immediately evident, “goods damaged”. Failure to do so will void any claims for any such loss or damage of goods in transit. Claims for damages or shortages must be made within 3 working days.

This forms part of our terms and conditions.

Due to the nature of the products we sell we have a number of different delivery methods these will be added together to give you the full delivery cost at the checkout. The cost of carriage is dependent on the size and weight of the products, in some cases delivery may be sent via multiple methods i.e. Shop Shelving units will have the uprights shipped via a courier and the shelves, backpanel & other items will be shipped on a pallet service. Some items may include carriage where this applies it will be clearly stated.

All deliveries assume unrestricted access Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm whether this be free delivery or paid for delivery.  If restrictions or penalties apply any costs involved must be paid for in full by the customer.  Timed deliveries can be arranged at additional cost.  Any parking costs or fines are payable by the customer and should be advised by the customer at time of order. Any costs incurred due to delays caused but not advised at time of order must be paid by customer.  In the event of an order not being delivered due to access restrictions the cost of returning to us and/or redeliver must be paid by the customer prior to redelivery.  In the event of refusal of delivery the customer will be liable for all costs incurred.

We aim to despatch all stock items within a typical lead time of 2 -3 working days. If goods are required urgently then please contact our sales team who will endeavour to improve on this. Any other items that incur a longer lead time should be clearly defined in the product description.

Bulky items are delivered kerbside only and require the customer to move items into their property.

Deliveries for slatwall, counters and other palletised goods: Are often made by articulated lorry. You must advise us if the vehicle cannot get to within reasonable distance during normal working hours. You are responsible for unloading the goods drivers are unaccompanied & are not obliged to help with unloading so you will need to have adequate manpower. In practice many drivers will assist and sometimes a tail-lift vehicle is used so that the pallet can be left for you to unload at your leisure. Failure to notify us of any restrictions can result in failed delivery & additional delivery costs.

Further information for large slatwall boards for large amounts of slatwall delivered by lorry you will need two fit, strong people to offload the boards. This is so that the driver can slide the boards down off the lorry to two people.

We can also arrange for timed deliveries via our courier and pallet services. We can organise dedicated vehicles to meet your needs. Please contact us for details.

Some residential addresses may incur extra surcharges these charges will be passed on to the customer however you will be notified in advance and given the option to proceed.

Smart & Price

Smart & Price

The Smart family can be traced back to the early 18th century where for many generations they were agricultural labourers in the Hamlets of Gloucestershire. In the mid 19th century Francis Smart and his sons Frederick & George were cabinet makers in Gloucester.
Frederick Smart walked from Gloucester to Birmingham where he traded in joinery and woodwork and was soon joined by his younger brother George. The brothers rented premises in Slaney Street which was not far from Snow Hill Station and F & G Smart was established in 1870.
